Baptiste and Island Lakes Stewardship Society received Society status in 2014. This society includes anyone interested in the stewardship of Baptiste and Island Lakes and has representation from the Summer Villages of West Baptiste, South Baptiste, Sunset Beach, Whispering Hills, Island Lake South and Island Lake, the County of Athabasca, Alberta Environment and Parks, Watershed Protection and Advisory Councils for the North Saskatchewan and Athabasca river watersheds, Highway 2 Conservation, and the Alberta Lake Management Society.
Vision: To maintain a healthy lake and watershed for Baptiste and Island Lakes recognizing the importance of living within the capacity of the natural environment and providing sustainable recreational, residential, agricultural and industrial benefits.
Mission: The mission of our stewardship society is to improve the lakes water quality and ensure the watersheds are protected to provide healthy lakes for the continued enjoyment of all people.
